We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the engineering, procurement, and construction of port terminal projects in North America. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of bulk material handling projects, ensuring they are delivered according to the Owner specifications, on schedule and within budget.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the engineering, procurement, and construction of port terminal projects in North America. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of bulk material handling projects, ensuring they are delivered according to the Owner specifications, on schedule and within budget.

  • Plan and schedule all phases of brownfield port facilities projects.
  • Utilize SAP Business ByDesign, MS Office, and MS Project to manage project documentation, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation effectively.
  • Lead multi-discipline project teams to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
  • Coordinate engineering resources and international manufacturing subcontractors to support project execution.
  • Interface with clients on commercial and technical issues, ensuring clear communication and alignment of project objectives.
  • Manage change both financial as well as from a schedule perspective to ensure risk profile remains similar, or less than the as sold risk profile.
  • Complete updates and provide monthly reports of financial, schedule and project scope / delivery.
  • Provide oversight of engineering, manufacturing, transportation, construction, and commissioning activities to ensure all project deliverables are in compliance with contractual requirements and industry standards.
  • Ensure performance guarantees are achieved and respond to warranty issues.
  • Upon project completion, review “lessons learned” with the project team.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. 
  • 10+ years professional experience in worldwide project management with a focus on port facilities.
  • Experience managing projects exceeding $50 million USD in value, from EPC contract negotiations to client acceptance.
  • Proven experience with government contract forms, conditions and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage multi-discipline project teams and build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Knowledgeable in heavy industrial equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components, as well as steel fabrication, machining and assembly processes.
  • Extensive international experience including coordinating engineering, purchasing and delivery of equipment from Asia, Europe, Canada, and Mexico to jobsites in the USA and Canada.
  • Energetic, dynamic and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrate effective communications (oral, written, & electronic) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate effective planning, organizing, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills (multiple complex analyses simultaneously)
  • PE (Professional Engineer) or PMP (Project Management Professional) preferred.
  • Experience in the field of conveying and storage equipment for a wide range of bulk materials.
  • Knowledge of port infrastructure is a plus.
  • Willingness and the experience to travel, both domestically and internationally (North America, Asia and Europe)
