This order for a Siwertell barge unloader was awarded by Mirant Mid-Atlantic, LLC, for handling of various materials in Maryland, USA. The selected installation was chosen primarily due to its spillage-free operation

About

The contract for this project covers a part of the modernization of the power plant in Morgantown.

Siwertell’s responsibility was to design,
manufacture and ship the barge unloader Supervision of the assembly as well as commissioning were also included.

The unloader can be maneuvered both from a portable radio control box and an operator’s cabin.  The machine travels on rails along the dock in the Potomac River.

The unloaded material is placed on a belt conveyor by a movable transfer trolley lifting the cover belt, providing a spillage free operation. The unloader is also equipped with a 16t hoist to lift a pay loader down to the barge for the final clean up.
